Tablet presses appeared earlier in Europe and America, with a history of nearly a century. In China, by 1949, the Tianxiang Huaji Iron Factory in Shanghai had imitated the British style 33 stamping machine; In 1951, the American 16 stamping machine was restructured into a domestic 18 stamping machine, which was the earliest domestically manufactured pharmaceutical machinery; In 1957, the ZP25-4 tablet press was designed and manufactured; In 1960, we successfully designed and manufactured the 60-30 tablet press, which has automatic rotation and tablet pressing functions. The types of tablets we press include pills, sugar tablets, calcium tablets, coffee tablets, etc. In the same year, we also designed and manufactured ZP33 and ZP19 tablet presses.
Since the 1970s, Shanghai First Pharmaceutical Machinery Factory (predecessor of Shanghai Tianxiang) and Shandong Medical Equipment Factory have been designated manufacturers of tablet presses, producing a large number of ZP series tablet presses. During the "Seventh Five Year Plan" period, the HZP26 high-speed tablet press at the 206 Institute of the Ministry of Aeronautics and Astronautics was successfully developed. In 1980, Shanghai First Pharmaceutical Machinery Factory designed and manufactured the ZP-21W tablet press, which reached the international advanced level of the early 1980s and was the first domestic product. In 1987, the microcomputer control technology of the Federal German company Fette was introduced, and the P3100-37 rotary tablet press was designed and manufactured. It has functions such as automatic control of tablet weight, pressure, automatic counting, and automatic removal of waste tablets. The closed structure is tight, and the purification level meets GMP requirements. In 1997, Shanghai Tianxiang Jiantai Pharmaceutical Machinery Co., Ltd. developed the ZP100 series rotary tablet press and the GZPK100 series high-speed rotary tablet press.
In the 21st century, with the deepening of GMP certification, ZP series rotary tablet presses that fully comply with GMP have emerged one after another: ZP35A in Shanghai, ZP35D in Liaocheng, Shandong, and so on. The high-speed rotary tablet press has made significant progress in production, pressure signal acquisition, waste removal and other technologies. The maximum production is generally greater than 300000 tablets/hour, with a maximum pre pressure of 20kN and a maximum main pressure of 80kN or more. For example, the GZPLS-620 series high-speed rotary tablet press from Beijing Guoyao Longli Technology Co., Ltd., the GZPK3000 series high-speed rotary tablet press from Shanghai Tianxiang Jiantai Pharmaceutical Machinery Co., Ltd., and the PG50 series high-speed rotary tablet press from Beijing Aviation Manufacturing Engineering Research Institute.
With the improvement of manufacturing and processing technology, automation control technology, and various special needs of tablet press manufacturers, various special purpose tablet presses have also emerged. For example, the ZP5 rotary tablet press used in the laboratory, the dry powder rotary tablet press used for dry powder pressing, and the explosion-proof ZPYG51 series rotary tablet press used for gunpowder tablets.
